题目:Machine learning applications in the energy industry 时间:2016年6月16日上午 9:30-11:30 地点:玉泉校区信电楼215会议室 报告人:Weichang Li |
Abstract: Machine learning and data mining research have seen accelerated development and fruitful applications in a number of industries, resulting in the so-called "Big Data" business in areas such as social networks, financial modeling, healthcare, personalized commerce, manufacturing and government. The energy industry has no shortage of data, and has interesting problems involving not only large data sets, but also complex models and significant domain knowledge. This talk will present a number of machine learning application examples in exploration, production and downstream/chemical manufacturing, and hopes to highlight the interesting research opportunities that exist at the interface between algorithms, models and domain specifics, and their potential impact.
Biography: Weichang Li is with Aramco Research Center - Houston. His research interest is in signal/image processing, machine learning and sensing with applications in geophysics, material sciences, production and manufacturing systems. From 2008-2014 he was with ExxonMobil Corporate Strategic Research Lab where he led the Data Analytics team. Weichang has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Oceanographic Engineering, MS (dual) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Ocean Engineering, all from MIT.
